Catholic Advocate

Have you been touched by the stories of children in Uganda? Would you like to help, even if you cannot give money? You can become an advocate – someone who shares our mission with others. Just speaking to your friends, family, or parish can bring new sponsors.

Advocacy costs nothing but your time. By sharing our story, you help us reach more children in need across Central and Northern Uganda. We are a small foundation – every new sponsor makes a huge difference.

How to advocate for OKWAGALA

You can start an online fundraiser on GoFundMe or Facebook. You can give a short written or video testimonial about your experience. You can invite one of our team members to speak at your parish (via Zoom or in person if possible). You can host a small gathering at your home and share our story. Or simply pray for us – prayer is powerful advocacy.

Invite a member of our team to speak at Sunday Masses (we can join by video if needed). Your pastor and fellow parishioners can learn how to sponsor a child in Uganda. We will provide materials and answer questions.

Frequently asked questions

We are a small, young Catholic foundation in Uganda. Our mission is to help children stay in school, provide meals, and support seminarians, nuns, and the elderly. We are not yet registered, but we are honest. Every gift of any amount goes directly to those in need.

You can sponsor a child, a seminarian, or a nun – any amount helps. You can also volunteer remotely (writing, social media) or in Uganda if you visit. You can start a fundraiser, share our story, or simply pray for us. Contact us to discuss how you’d like to help.

Your donation is deposited into our Uganda bank account. We then pay the child’s school directly or buy food, uniform, or supplies. We keep simple records and share them with you. No middlemen, no hidden fees – just honest help.

Not at this time. We are a young foundation still working on registration. We are honest about this – your gift will still go directly to a child in need, but you cannot claim a tax deduction. We will update everyone once we are registered.

You can help from anywhere: writing blog posts, managing social media, designing simple flyers, or helping with fundraising. If you live in Uganda or plan to visit, you can spend time at our partner schools. Email us at OKWAGALA.operations@okwagalaforchildren.org to start.
