Mission Trips

Would you like to see OKWAGALA’s work with your own eyes? We welcome visitors who want to serve for a short time. You can help at a school, visit a clinic, or just spend time with the children.

We offer individual and group mission trips to Uganda. You will work alongside local teachers, sisters, and priests. You will see the direct impact of sponsorship.

Mission trip options in Uganda

You can serve at our partner schools, orphanages, clinics, and parishes in Central or Northern Uganda. Trips can be short (1‑4 weeks), mid (1‑3 months), or long (3+ months). Groups (families, youth groups, parishes, universities) are also welcome. You can also combine your trip with a pilgrimage to the Ugandan Martyrs Shrine in Namugongo.

Find yourself in service

Choose the length that fits you: short‑term (1‑4 weeks), mid‑term (1‑3 months), or long‑term (3+ months). We will help you plan and give you a fundraising page if needed.

01

Choose your length

Short‑term is good for summer breaks. Mid‑term is great for gap years. Long‑term is for those who want to live in Uganda for a while.

Frequently asked questions

We are a small, young Catholic foundation in Uganda. Our mission is to help children stay in school, provide meals, and support seminarians, nuns, and the elderly. We are not yet registered, but we are honest. Every gift of any amount goes directly to those in need.

You can sponsor a child, a seminarian, or a nun – any amount helps. You can also volunteer remotely (writing, social media) or in Uganda if you visit. You can start a fundraiser, share our story, or simply pray for us. Contact us to discuss how you’d like to help.

Your donation is deposited into our Uganda bank account. We then pay the child’s school directly or buy food, uniform, or supplies. We keep simple records and share them with you. No middlemen, no hidden fees – just honest help.

Not at this time. We are a young foundation still working on registration. We are honest about this – your gift will still go directly to a child in need, but you cannot claim a tax deduction. We will update everyone once we are registered.

You can help from anywhere: writing blog posts, managing social media, designing simple flyers, or helping with fundraising. If you live in Uganda or plan to visit, you can spend time at our partner schools. Email us at OKWAGALA.operations@okwagalaforchildren.org to start.
