Christine Akello
Christine Akello
Field Coordinator – Northern Uganda (Gulu)
about me
Christine Akello lives in Gulu town. She lost family during the civil war and understands the pain of poverty. She joined OKWAGALA to help children who have no one. She is a single mother of two and volunteers because she believes every child deserves a chance.
Christine works as a small‑scale farmer. She uses her knowledge of the local community to identify the most vulnerable children, the elderly, and any nuns or seminarians in need. She speaks Acholi and English.
recognition
Christine was recognised by her local church for her kindness to orphans. No formal awards – just gratitude from those she helps.
Why we do this
We are ordinary people – some with jobs, some studying, some retired – who came together because we saw children in Uganda struggling to stay in school. We are not a big organisation. We are not yet registered. But we are honest. When you give through OKWAGALA, your money goes directly to the child’s school or family. We share simple reports. No fixed fees, no pressure – just love.
- We send your gift directly to the child’s school or family
- We provide a simple annual statement – no hidden costs
- You can give any amount, anytime – no minimum
- We work with local Catholic parishes and schools
- We support children, seminarians, nuns, and elderly
- If you want to visit Uganda, we will try to help
